Introduction
ScotPHN has undertaken a piece of national work on chronic pain. The project was undertaken in conjunction with NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Tayside and NHS Highland and built on learning from their local work, including e.g. effective prescribing. National meetings of the project group were arranged to gain a better understanding of the local and national landscape. It was proposed that a needs assessment should be undertaken to inform developments to support action and progress this agenda, whilst identifying the public health contribution.
