Introduction
ScotPHN has undertaken a needs assessment of ophthalmology services on behalf of the Board Chief Executives. This has been led by Cathy Johnman, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde/Glasgow University.
The report is formed of two volumes. The first report provides estimates of the current and future prevalence of major eye conditions that use NHS ophthalmology services. It is available here. A second report that considers the health economic consequences of these estimates is in development. A further report considering the wider consequences of prevention is being considered.
